Robin Thede Parents Phyllis And Dave Thede
The comedian was born and raised in Iowa, the daughter of politician Phyllis and comic Dave Thede. Phyllis is a politician from the United States who represents the 93rd District as a member of the Iowa Democratic Party in the Iowa House of Representatives.
Her mother is a member of the Ethics, Local Government, and Natural Resources committees in the Iowa House as of September 2011. She is also a member of the Human Rights Board, the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Environmental Protection Committee’s ranking member.

The writer graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and African-American studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, after completing high school. After that, she continued her education at the Second City theater company in Chicago.

The actress’s father is German-American, and her mother is of African American origin. She is, therefore of mixed racial and ethnic heritage. The stand-up comedian and actor Robin Williams inspired the name “Robin.”

Robin began her career in sketch comedy alongside Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin. She was the first African-American to occupy that role on any late-night talk show when she served as the chief writer and performer on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore from 2015 to 2016.
The comedian worked as a staff writer on the first two seasons of BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood” as the chief writer of The Queen Latifah Show before that. She also starred alongside comedian JB Smoove in Marlon Wayans’ comedy A Haunted House and made frequent appearances as “Gail” on Second Generation Wayans on BET.
Both as a writer and a performer, the artist has frequently contributed to TV shows. Some of her acting credits include Key & Peele, Hot in Cleveland, Chocolate News, Kath & Kim, Worst Week, and All of Us.
She costarred alongside Tatyana Ali in the BET original online series Buppies.
