According to Midfield Police Chief Jesse Bell, the teen was riding a go-kart near 9th and 12th Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when he collided with a vehicle. The child was taken to Children’s of Alabama, where he died.

The driver, according to Bell, remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.
